Yarn Review: Bernat Maker Home Dec
Hello readers! I've been meaning to start writing yarn reviews for some time now, and I'm finally getting around to it! I'll give you the stats on each yarn, and cover 5 categories. Each category will get a rating out of 5, and at the end, I'll give an overall rating out of 10.
All opinions are my own, and I am definitely not paid to say anything about any of the yarns I review. Let's get started!

Stats -
This time I'm talking about Bernat's Maker Home Dec. This is a bulky (5) yarn. It comes in balls of 317 yards (8.8 oz). It's a blend of 72% cotton, 28% nylon.
Price & Availability - 4/5
One 317 yard ball of Home Dec is $9.99. That is fairly expensive, but the quality makes it worth it. Plus, it's available at most of the big box retailers including Walmart, Joann, Michael's, and online at Yarnspirations and Amazon.
Softness & Drape - 4/5
Home Dec is very soft! It has the feel of T-shirt yarn, but its tubular shape feels even nicer and there's no need to worry about rough edges unraveling. Since it's a bulky yarn, there's not much drape at all. It works up into a fairly stiff fabric, making it perfect for home projects like rugs or items that will see a lot of wear, like bags or purses.
Look & Colors - 4/5
I really love the look of this yarn when it's worked up. The shape gives it really great stitch definition. It comes in 16 colors (8 solids, 8 variegated) which is fairly limited, but many of the colors pair well together.
User Friendliness - 4/5
Home Dec is quite soft and has zero splitting! However, if working with bulky yarn hurts your wrist, this yarn might be a problem. It also gets big points for being machine washable.
Overall Rating - 8/10
This is one of my favorite bulky yarns. I do wish it was a bit cheaper and came in a few more colors, but those wouldn't even be problems if I didn't like it so much! I would definitely buy more. This was my first time using it and I can't wait to use it again.

Is there a yarn you'd like me to review? Do you love Maker Home Dec, or were you not a fan? Let me know in the comments!
Love your blog. I just picked up some of the Home Dec yarn on clearance for $2 a skein. I bought three of them. Two were a pale minty green and one was a creamy color. I didn't really know what to do with them, but now that I see your backpack pattern, I'll definitely be making it! And I'll probably have some yarn left over! Thanks for sharing your patterns and your skills with us!
